Our Services
Welcome to Misty Maple Farm! We are a small training facility right outside Boone and Blowing Rock ,NC located on the peak of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We are proud to produce not only effective riders in our lesson program but we also always have a wide variety of sane, safe horses for sale for all levels.
PHILOSOPHY
Our riding philosophy here at Misty Maple Farm is to not only understand and learn correct equitation but also understand the biomechanics of the horse and what is asked of the horse within their discipline. We offer private and group lessons for every age and encourage our riders to show our own horses. We believe that not only should our instructors be understanding and patient but we also strive to employ good role models for our young women and men. We try to enforce good sportsmanship and see our showing experiences as a way to encourage every child without stressing the win.
STAFF
Resident trainer and barn manager, Tara Fickling comes from over 8 years of training and teaching lessons, with an Equine Science Degree from Virginia Tech and competed on both IDA and IHSA teams while in school. She had the wonderful opportunity to work for and learn from Lynn Jyndrowski, a Grand Prix Dressage trainer during college, rounding out her education. She also competed nationwide with the VT Horse Judging Team developing her eye for conformation and understanding the judging process. She currently is on the board of directors for Horse Helpers of the High Country and has a successful show program with her students.
